Tony Mumford, Drums and percussion

It all began with an idea from Bob. He had previously played in a band with Tony Mumford (Bedrock Station), but as the the direction of the band was turning away from live work, the members decided to call it a day. Consequently, Bob was soon looking for a new challenge and it went something like this.

He spoke with Tony - an off chance one day, about setting up a band dedicated to doing 1980s hits. The challenge was, instead of just playing a "version" of the song, about trying to get as close to the original as possible. Not being the sort of guy to turn down a challenge, and making time to play with ThatEightiesBand outside of his other commitments, Tony was on board and the search was on for the rest of the band.

Next up, was Paul for the guitar section. Paul already knew Tony through his son (Matt) who was a student of his for drums. When asked to join the ThatEightiesBand, it was a no brainer and the band was now a three piece, looking to complete the line-up.

Enter - Mark Aperios. Mark had been playing with several bands over the years and also played alongside Tony at one point. He was the obvious choice and soon was recruited into the band.

For vocals, we looked around for quite some time before finally choosing Mark. The challenge to get a singer that was both flexible enough to sing the rock songs with the range for the more "poppy" hits was proving hard to find. Mark was already known to both Tony and Paul due to his work with various blues and rock bands. He came to an audition in August of 2011 and he's been with us ever since.
